Quote:
FLOWER MOUND, Texas - Friends and family are mourning a 12-year-old Liberty Christian school student who was killed in a crash on Tuesday .

Ian Key died in a chain-reaction wreck at Highway 377 and Stonecrest Road in Flower Mound.

The incident happened near the school when a car rear-ended a truck, forcing it into two other vehicles, officials said.

Key was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people in his vehicle were also injured. His brother, Evan Key was treated and released from Harris Methodist Hospital. The driver, Hunter Johnson, remained in an ICU.

On Tuesday morning, Liberty Christian held assemblies to tell students about the fatal crash. However, 6th graders were not in attendance.

In the meantime, Flower Mound police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

The driver of another of the vehicles involved called a friend immediately after the accident and provided some details about the event.

"He said he was heading northbound 377 and something caught his eye out in the field," Steve Jones said. "Next thing you know, he's got glass in his face and airbags out."

FLOWER MOUND, Texas - At least one student is dead and two others were injured in a crash near Liberty Christian School in Flower Mound.

The four-vehicle crash happened at Highway 377and Stonecrest Road, which is near the school.

Police said one person died at the scene.

One person was taken by CareFlite medical ambulance to Harris Methodist Hospital and another was transported by ground ambulance. Their conditions were not known.

Liberty Christian's principal and youth pastor said the deceased victim was a 12-year-old sixth grade boy. He was in a car with his older brother and had just left the campus when it happened.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash.

Police have not released the names of the victims.

The links contain videos which explain a little more about what happened. 4 vehicles were involved. Another one of those domino effects. People dont really realize just how one little act of carelessness can effect so many. Driver was probably distracted at the time. All they had to do was pass legally on the shoulder, and all would have been fine.
